We keep this simple. ai Smith pdx is a small Portland business run by Alex Smith. We only collect what we need to respond to you.

Contact form

When you submit the form on our site, we store your name, email, interest, optional message, and a one-way hash of your IP address (not the raw IP). We use this only to reply to you and understand basic spam patterns. We do not sell your information or add you to marketing lists.

Smithy (AI chat)

Smithy is an AI assistant — not Alex, and not a human. Messages you send in chat are processed by our server and a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to generate replies. We do not use your chat to train public AI models.

If you type an email address in chat, we may save a short excerpt of the conversation with your email so Alex can follow up — the same way as a contact form. We do not ask for passwords, payment cards, or login codes in chat. If you share sensitive information, please delete it and contact us directly.

How long we keep data

Lead and chat records stay in our secure database until they are no longer needed for follow-up, typically up to two years, then deleted on a reasonable schedule.

Cookies & analytics

We do not run ad trackers or sell data to brokers. Standard server logs may include browser type and timestamps for security.
